Central to the design is the harmonic integration of the new complex in the agricultural landscape: the masterplan area, extends within the Decima Malafede Nature Reserve, which is rich in flora and fauna, as well as archeological relics. \n\nPreserving the verdant character of the zone, the project is a synthesis of urbane quads and streets for the active exchange of ideas, with open green fields as spaces for leisure and contemplation. In the project, landscape and architecture merge, creating a wide variety of interconnected spaces that promote cross-pollination. The campus emerge as a gradient of density from the city edge along Trigoria to open agricultural fields to the north, representing a calm place to teach and learn, well-connected to the city, but beyond its immediate hustle and bustle.\n\nConstruction on the east-west axis has given rise to the Boulevard and a new eastern entry. The programmes have been zoned on the site with Healthcare in front of the existing hospital, followed by Research, Didactics and the facilities connected to the campus’ life in proximity to the town. \n\nNext to the hill and the connective line between the existing didactics buildings and the hospital, the Architectural Focus Building is intended as the microcosm of the whole campus in the future. It encompasses an educational centre and new facilities devoted to campus life, such as residential and service spaces, sports facilities, informal learning spaces, a new library, a simulation centre, and governance offices.
